Mickey and the new Laptop Lunch

My first souvenir purchase in Florida during our vacation was a Mickey sandwich press. Then we went to Whole Foods to meet a fellow bento blogger, Sarah of Bentoriffic , where I passed by a Laptop Lunch bento display. I couldn't help it. I had to have one.  Mickey imprinted ham and cheese sandwich, simple salad w/tomatoes and ranch, yogurt w/diced strawberries, hummus with pita chips The salad, hummus, and yogurt little containers had lids. I did not buy a bag specifically for the Laptop lunch box, and most of my bags were too small for it. It fit in a regular rectangular lunch box, but did not have room for her drink or ice packs. It had to travel upright in a ThirtyOne thermal tote. Miss C reports that the containers did not leak, and that she ate all her salad.  My husband will not like it because there are more containers for him to wash. (Can I say again that I love that man? You'll probably get sick of reading that, if not already. haha!) Her...

SPRINKLES MAKE THE WORLD GO ROUND!     Ham roll ups, cheese stick, grapes and pudding May is absolutely one of the craziest months for our family next to December! I had to prioritize all the preschool events, cakes, and birthday festivities, on top of our day-to-day activities, and blogging did not make it into the higher priority list. So in the next couple days, I'll try to catch up.

week of bentos - Mar 5-9

Monday: C's lunch: Chawanmushi, deli rolls green peppers (w/ranch) and strawberry applesauce in a cute yellow bento box. My lunch: Udon noodles w/deli rolls in a small cute pink bento box (not pictured: apple) We had dinner at my mom's house after church and she prepared chawanmushi, spring rolls, lumpia, and udon noodles. So we had leftovers the next day. Chawanmushi is a Japanese steamed egg custard soup in a teacup, my mom added shrimp and mushroom, two of C's favorite foods.  I originally thought that I was going to have the egg soup for my lunch, but C loved it and wanted it for lunch, so I ended up with the Udon noodles instead.  Tuesday: C's off day My lunch: teriyaki salmon with rice, raw brocolli slaw, and carrots  using Lock&Lock divided container Wednesday: C's lunch: hummus, cauliflower, flower cookies fried SPAM, and garlic fried rice in a 2-tier bento box This was another case of C swiping my lunch. day 4: "lunchables"

Miss C loves Lunchables. For those who don't know what Lunchables are, they are a popular prepackaged lunch with crackers, some kind of cold cut meat, and cheese that the kids can stack. And most of the time they come with a candy bar. Typical lunchable I decided that a homemade version of a Lunchable is more budget friendly, earth friendly and kid friendly. I used some circle cutters that I use for cookies and baking to cut the ham and cheese, stacked them with Ritz crackers. Pineapple chunks speared with a heart pick and salad with ranch.   Right: Miss C's Lunchables Left: My lunch with scraps from cheese and ham from circle, cottage cheese, pineapple and soup (that I didn't end up eating). I was worried that Miss C won't eat her salad but she ate it up. She even said that there are some kids that brought salads as their lunches! I was very impressed with this group of 4-year-olds since I know more than a handful adults who won't even touch a ...
